June was another eventful month at KYIS! On the first week of June we harvested plums from the tree in our yard and made plum juice. We are very excited to taste it!! On the second week we dyed t-shirts and made original t-shirts! Each t-shirt came out differently. We will wear these when we go on a field trip. Everybody enjoyed all the processes of making t-shirts. &nbs
In Kamakurayama International School, children choose and decide which work they want to do by themselves. All instructions and works are done in English. Children grow and develop their new abilities everyday in their daily Montessori, music, art, and language activities.
We had Children’s day and Mother’s day in May. For Children’s day, children enjoyed making paper carp streamers by dyeing papers with the colors they like. All the carp streamers came out very beautifully. For Mother’s day, they made lovely “Thank you” cards to moms.
Everyone performed Sound of Music on the graduation day in March very successfully! Now we are practicing Lion King musical after we watched the movie. Children will be performing it at the end of this semester! The musical will feature singing, dancing, and viollin and cello performances.
We went on a field trip to Hiromachi（広町緑地.) We enjoyed walking the hiking trail and playing and picnicking at the field! All the children walked all the way to Hiromachi, and walked all the way back to the school. Great job, everyone!!
We did mamemaki for Setsubun today. Everyone made their own devil masks and wore them.
We sang Christmas songs and enjoyed Christmas concert by our music teachers. Children did great job playing the violin and cello.
We had turkey lunch! Thank you Ms. Miyou, Mr and Mrs. Tokunaga and Mr. Gibson for the amazing concert!!
Preschool students, after school students and their parents gathered all together at our school party and we had lots of fun! We sang Halloween songs, had yummy dinner, played game, and did trick or treating. Thank you for joining us!
When the weather is fine, we enjoy moving our bodies (リトミック) outside before morning class starts.
